About the role

In the heart of Melbourne's Northern and Western suburbs, cohealth's medical team delivers holistic, value-based services. Operating in Collingwood, Fitzroy, Kensington, Footscray, Braybrook, and Laverton, our clinics provide diverse medical, allied health, and oral health services.

Tailored to local needs, offerings may include refugee health, drug and alcohol services, paediatrics, mental health, homeless support, and occupational medicine. Supported by a dedicated team of Registered Nurses, interpreters, and administrators, our GPs collaborate seamlessly to deliver client-centered, evidence-based, holistic care.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Follow best practice and therapeutic guidelines in providing treatment and care to paediatric patients and patients with low acuity conditions such as mild infections, burns and fractures
  • Review all clients, undertake assessment, ensure clients are supported through the presenting complaints and refer, prescribe, and inform care where suitable
  • Act as a point of reference for other GP clinics in the area and support to build capacity within primary care
  • Actively contribute to discussions regarding the vision of medical clinics and suggesting ways to improve service quality, safety thereby boosting income
  • Engage in meetings with doctors to share medical knowledge, understanding and skills with colleagues

Position Requirements

  • Must have professionally recognised vocational training and qualifications as recognised by the RACGP
  • All GPs will be required to become honorary staff members of RCH as part of their employment
  • Independently provide and coordinate comprehensive medical care for patients, their families, and the communities we serve
  • Be proficient in undertaking respiratory assessment, ensuring patients and families are supported through the disease process and be able to refer, prescribe and inform care where appropriate
  • Be proficient in respiratory testing, pathology, wound care, first aid, fracture stabilisation, care planning and other minor pathology and radiology procedures within scope
  • Participate in clinic staff meetings, clinic business and budget planning and other clinic-related activities that necessitate staff involvement.

All Healthcare workers in Victoria are required to have received three doses of COVID-19 vaccination. Proof will need to be sighted during the recruitment process.
